Well, not much in the way of “making tracks,” since the BlogWorld & New Media Expo is being held in our backyard, so to speak (we don’t even need a freeway to get there – trust me, that’s rare). But we are checking it out for the first time this year. It’s all about communication at the end of the day, and anything we can do to communicate more better, we’re all over it.
It does seem as though about a million people are speaking though, so it may be a bit of sensory overload. And it stretches into Saturday, which seriously encroaches on my laying around time, and that’s no good. But I look forward to seeing what some of the speakers have to say, and what the general vibe is among our people. “Our people” being those who make their livings on line, like everyone here in the office, and apparently, about half of America.
My must-do list includes:
There’s a lot more, of course, but those should be the highlights. It will be a busy few days, that’s for sure, but If you see Mark or myself wandering around, do say hello, and we’ll say hello back.
Check out a Nokia prototype mobile device – it’s flexible! This also opens up possibilities to use the “flex” instead of a touching the screen. Interesting stuff. Just don’t bend it too far…

Hard to describe it – just got to check it out. We used to think talking to oneself while walking was a sign of dementia but now its totally normal. Next up to become normal – playing with objects that are not really there.
Last week we announced that Build Server was now available for TFS customers in our European data center. Today we would like to make all of our TFS customers an offer you can’t refuse.
From now until November 30th we are waiving the setup fee for Build! That’s a cool $150 savings, and it makes it possible to give Build Server a try without busting the budget.
With TFS Build, you can synchronize your sources, compile your application, and securely download your builds. Build managers are in full control of “when and how” they want the build process to work – from manual to continuous integration to scheduled builds.
What more could you ask for? And now with our limited time no-set-up-fee offer, you can experience the power of TFS Build for yourself. For more information, check out our TFS web site.
Here’s how to take advantage of the savings:
Remember, this promotion ends on November 30th, 2011. You must order through the support portal to take advantage of the free set up fee promotion. Build accounts set up through Control Panel will be charged the normal set up fee.
Just wanted to bring to your attention that Microsoft is hosting some HTML5 Web Camps on the west coast this year. And best of all these Web Camps are FREE.
Mountain View, CA on November 12, 2011 (all day Saturday event)
Redmond, WA on November 18, 2011 (all day Friday event)
Portland, OR on December 8, 2011 (all day Thursday event)
Click the links above to get more information and for registration.
At the HTML5 Web Camp you’ll get an intro to HTML 5 and and intro to web development using HTML5. Some other topics include using video, audio and animations with HTML5 and best practices. The event starts off with presentations and demos and ends with hands-on labs.
Did I mention that the event is FREE? That’s a lot cheaper than going to any of the other Microsoft conferences. If you are interested in HTML5 and if you live in or close to any of the areas above, this is training that is hard to pass up and since space is limited, think about registering today.
